So this is our blog. And our first attempt of anything like this. Blogs have never really been my thing. Like writing a journal, which I must confess, I have never really been disciplined enough to do.
The first thing to do when you create a blog is to come up with a name. Of course, you want something interesting, kinda quirky but relevant to the topic. It took me a while to come up with something. Luckily, I had time to think on the plane. Lets hope we are not in breach of copyright.
The idea of the "direction finding duck" belongs to Michael Leunig, an Australian cartoonist and cultural commentator. As I mention above it belongs to a book called "The Second Leunig" in which a character called Mr Curly goes on a voyage of discovery writing to his friend Vasco Pyjama about his adventures. Mr Curly takes with him on his travels the direction finding duck to help him on his way. Of course, travel isn't travel without a direction finding duck.
While I wouldn't call our little time away a voyage of discovery we are hoping it will be full of different experiences and adventures that we look back on fondly. Hopefully, if we are disciplined, this Blog will help us do just that.
